It depends on the condition of the bone; where the conditions are right, we do proceed with an immediate restoration. Immediate restoration is safe when the implant achieves enough initial stability in the bone at placement, or when several implants can be joined into a single restoration. Usually, though, waiting for the bone to fuse with the implant - about 2 to 3 months in the lower jaw and 3 to 6 months in the upper jaw - before placing the restoration is the standard approach that lowers the risk of failure.
