I have no sensation after implant surgery. Will it come back?

Altered sensation in the lip or chin after implant surgery should be reported to the clinic immediately. If sensation has not returned after the 2 to 4 hours it takes for anesthesia to wear off, we need to check for possible nerve damage. Temporary loss of sensation caused by a compressed or swollen nerve often recovers over weeks to months with medication, but depending on how recovery progresses, further steps such as adjusting the implant position may be needed.
