Implant
Is it true I should not blow my nose after a sinus lift (bone graft)?
Correct - you should not blow your nose for about 2 weeks after a sinus lift. The sinus membrane lifted to make room for an upper-jaw implant is connected to the nasal space, so blowing hard can tear it or scatter the grafted bone. Please 1) wipe a runny nose rather than blowing it, 2) sneeze with your mouth open, and 3) avoid pressure changes such as using straws or flying. However, if you have a nosebleed that will not stop, a sensation of fluid leaking from your nose, or severe swelling or fever, come in immediately.
