I had my impression taken last time. Why does making the restoration take so long?

It usually takes about a week because of the custom fabrication process. A restoration is not an off-the-shelf product: working from the model of your impression, the dental laboratory goes through design, milling, firing the ceramic, and colour matching - it is entirely custom made. It can take longer for front teeth, where reproducing colour and shape matters, or when a custom implant abutment is needed. During fabrication we make sure a temporary tooth keeps you comfortable.
