Can I use ordinary mouthwash after surgery?

After surgery we recommend the Hexamedine rinse we prescribed rather than ordinary mouthwash. Hexamedine (chlorhexidine) is a professional rinse prescribed to disinfect the surgical site, used twice a day for about a week. Ordinary mouthwash containing alcohol can irritate the surgical site. However, using Hexamedine for a long period can cause tooth staining or changes in taste, so use it only for the period prescribed; after that you may switch back to ordinary mouthwash.
