Can I drink alcohol during root canal treatment?

We recommend avoiding alcohol while root canal treatment is in progress. Alcohol worsens the inflammatory response and lowers immunity, slowing healing at the treated site, and if you are taking painkillers or antibiotics it can interfere with them and add strain on your stomach and liver. Avoid it especially on the day of treatment and while you have pain or swelling. Root canal treatment usually takes 2 to 4 visits, so it is safest to wait until treatment and the final restoration (crown) are complete.
