If I use a water flosser, can I skip dental floss?
A water flosser does not fully replace floss. It is effective at washing food debris out from between the teeth, but the sticky plaque clinging to the surfaces where teeth touch has to be physically scraped away with floss. 1) The basics are brushing plus floss, 2) people with braces, implants, or bridges benefit from adding a water flosser, and 3) an interdental brush is an alternative for those who find floss difficult because of limited hand movement. We can advise which aids suit your mouth at a check-up.
