I bit my tongue and the bleeding will not stop.

The tongue has a rich blood supply so it bleeds a lot, but in most cases pressure alone stops it. Hold clean gauze or a handkerchief against the wound and press without letting go for at least 10 minutes. However, if 1) the bleeding does not stop after 15 to 20 minutes of pressure, 2) the wound is deep and gaping, or 3) blood is spurting out, stitches may be needed, so go straight to a dental clinic or emergency room. Even after the bleeding stops, avoid hot and spicy food for a few days.
