Implant
For an implant bone graft, do you use my own bone or artificial bone?
It depends on the case; we usually select from several types of graft material according to what the site needs. The options are 1) autogenous bone (your own) - excellent bone-forming ability, but it requires an additional donor site, 2) allograft or xenograft (donated or animal-derived) - enough volume without harvesting from you, and 3) synthetic bone - a manufactured material with a stable supply. We decide the combination based on the amount and location of the missing bone and your general health, and we explain exactly which material will be used at your consultation after a CT scan.
