My front tooth laminate keeps coming off. Is it a problem with the adhesive?
More often the issue is the force applied to the laminate rather than the bonding itself. Common causes of repeated debonding are 1) grinding and clenching habits, 2) biting food off with the front teeth or biting nails and bottle caps, 3) a bite in which the lower teeth strike the front teeth strongly, and 4) the limits of adhesion given the condition of the tooth surface. If the same one comes off repeatedly, rather than simply re-bonding it each time it is better to find the cause with a bite examination and, if needed, consider a night guard for grinding or switching to another restoration such as a crown. Do not throw the piece away - bring it in and we will check whether it can be re-bonded.
