Denture
Can I use toothpaste when cleaning my dentures?
You should not clean dentures with toothpaste. The abrasives in toothpaste create fine scratches on the denture surface, and bacteria and stains build up in those scratches. The correct way to clean them is to 1) brush them after every meal under cool running water with a denture brush or a soft brush, 2) use a neutral dish detergent or a cleaner made for dentures, and 3) soak them once a day in a denture cleaning tablet solution to disinfect. Cleaning them over a basin of water is safer, so they do not break if dropped. However, if stains or hardened deposits have already built up, have them ultrasonically cleaned at the clinic.
