Does an electric toothbrush always clean better than a manual one? Can it damage the gums?
An electric toothbrush is not automatically better - with either type, correct technique matters more. Because it removes plaque by vibration, it helps people with weak hand strength or difficulty brushing thoroughly. However, pressing hard and scrubbing can cause gum recession and wear at the neck of the tooth, so simply rest it lightly against the tooth surface and move it along slowly. If your gums are fragile, have your technique reviewed at a check-up.
