Is gold the best material for fillings?

Gold is not necessarily the best material in every case. Gold has long been popular because of its durability and because it wears down at a rate similar to natural tooth structure, but its visible color and high cost are drawbacks. Recently, as the strength and bonding technology of tooth-colored materials like zirconia and ceramic have improved, the use of gold has gradually decreased. The right material depends on 1) whether the area takes a lot of chewing force, 2) whether it is in a visible area, and 3) how large the cavity is - so we will decide together after diagnosis.
