Can I brush the surgical or extraction site?

Brush around the surgical or extraction site only, and clean the rest of your teeth as thoroughly as usual. A toothbrush touching the surgical site can cause bleeding or damage the sutures, so rinse and disinfect it with the mouthwash we prescribed twice a day. From about 1 to 2 weeks later, usually when the stitches come out, you can start gently brushing the surgical site with a soft brush. However, if bleeding will not stop while brushing or the pain worsens, please come in.
