What is the difference between crestal and lateral sinus lift procedures?

Crestal (crestal approach) is a procedure accessed through the site where the implant will be placed, whereas Lateral (lateral approach) is accessed by creating a small window in the side wall of the maxillary sinus. ① Crestal is relatively simple, but it may be difficult to apply when the remaining alveolar bone height is very thin at 2 mm or less, and ② Lateral can be considered even when the bone is very thin, but the incision area may be larger. The average healing period is approximately 3 months for crestal and 6 months for Lateral; however, the period and method vary depending on the condition of the bone.
