If you cannot hold a sneeze back, sneeze with your mouth wide open. Sneezing with your mouth closed drives the pressure toward the nose and sinus, which can scatter the grafted bone, damage the surgical site, and cause a nosebleed. For the same reason it is best to avoid actions involving large pressure changes, such as blowing your nose or using a straw, for about 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. However, if a nosebleed will not stop after a sneeze, or graft particles come out mixed with nasal discharge, please come in.
