심미/미백
My gums are pigmented. Can the gums also be whitened?
Yes, gums that have darkened due to melanin pigmentation can be improved with gum whitening (a procedure that removes the pigmented layer using a laser or similar method). The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so discomfort is minimal, and it usually takes 1 to 2 visits with healing in about 1 to 2 weeks. However, the cause of the discoloration may not always be melanin. 1) Melanin pigmentation or smoking-related discoloration — suitable for gum whitening. 2) Discoloration from underlying metal restorations (metal tattoo) — consider replacing the restoration. 3) Vascular or pathological discoloration — requires detailed diagnosis. Please come in for an examination first so we can identify the cause.
