Wisdom Tooth
I heard about reuse transplantation. Can extracted wisdom teeth be reused?
Yes, the extracted tooth can be reused in two ways. 1) Autogenous tooth transplantation: a healthy wisdom tooth is extracted and transplanted into the site of a lost molar. This is covered by national health insurance and requires the wisdom tooth's root to be intact. 2) Autogenous tooth bone graft material: the extracted wisdom tooth is ground up and specially processed for use as bone graft material in procedures like implants. However, reuse may not be possible if the wisdom tooth has severe decay or if the root breaks during extraction, so please consult with us beforehand. Reuse of wisdom teeth is feasible only in limited cases and rarely offers clear advantages over other treatment options, so it is not commonly performed.
