Can I drink alcohol after having an impression taken?
We recommend no alcohol for about 1 to 2 days, including the day of the impression. Having an impression taken means the gums have been treated or you are wearing a temporary tooth, and alcohol dilates the blood vessels, worsening gum bleeding and swelling and slowing recovery. Swollen gums can also affect how precisely the final restoration is cemented. However, if you also had an extraction or surgery, you should avoid alcohol for at least 3 days to a week.
