I see a lump in my mouth. Should it be treated, and if so, how?

A lump in the mouth is often a benign lesion such as a mucocele caused by a blocked salivary gland, but an examination is needed to identify it accurately. A mucocele characteristically grows and shrinks repeatedly, and if it bothers you it can be treated with a simple excision. However, a lump that does not go away within 2 weeks, keeps growing, or feels firm needs a biopsy, so please do not put off coming in.
