Is sedation truly painless?

Under sedation (sleep) anesthesia you enter a light sleep and remember little of the pain or fear of the procedure. Local anesthesia is given as well to block pain, so there is almost no discomfort during treatment. Unlike general anesthesia this is conscious sedation, in which you breathe on your own and can respond to the staff, so recovery tends to be quick. However, fasting is required for a set period beforehand, and you cannot drive that day, so you must come with a companion.
