I have frequent dry mouth. Will it affect my denture use?

Yes, dry mouth affects denture use. Saliva creates the suction between the denture and your gums, so when your mouth is dry the denture comes loose easily and the gums get sore from rubbing. It helps to 1) sip water frequently throughout the day, 2) use artificial saliva or oral moisturizers, and 3) cut back on caffeine and alcohol. Dry mouth is often a side effect of medications such as blood pressure drugs, so please let us know what you are taking. However, if the discomfort persists, you may need denture adhesive or a reline, so please come in for an adjustment.
